Anisotropy of magnetoelastic phenomena in Lu2Fe17 intermetallics

Description

The anisotropy of magnetoelastic phenomena that accompanies changes of magnetic structures in the Lu2Fe17 intermetallics was studied under pressure. A huge anisotropy in compression (d ln c/dp congruent with 2d ln a/dp) and thermal expansion (d lnc/dT congruent with -5d ln a/dT) of the Lu2Fe17 crystal lattice has been observed under hydrostatic pressure, using micro-strain gauges fixed on the single crystal along principal axes. The dominant role of the lattice c-parameter in the pressure effects is discussed
