Electrode materials of a perovskite structure on a base of Sm, Dy and Co

Description

Oxides of perovskite structure containing cobalt as LaCoO3 are characterized by high ionic conductivity due to high concentration of oxygen vacancies, thus the proper materials for the electrodes of electrochemical cells. However, they exhibit also a considerable reactivity with electrolyte (YSZ type), especially at high temperatures. For that reason attempts have been made to introduce other lanthanides into the structure of perovskites. In the course of own research work, oxides of a perovskite-like containing Sm, Dy, Sr and Co were synthesized. The obtained materials were X-ray examined and checked under the transmission and scanning electron microscopes in order to determine the phase content, microstructure and reactions with the solid electrolyte material. The temperature coefficient of linear expansion was measured within temperature range 400-1000 oC as well as TCR and resistance at temperatures 30-900 oC. It was confirmed that the obtained materials Dy0.3Sr0.7CoO3 and SmCoO3 may be used for electrodes of electrochemical cells and oxygen sensors. (author)
