Orbital magnetism in URhSn
- 1. L.C.S.-C.N.R.S., Universite Bordeaux 1, 351 cours de la Liberation, 33405 Talence Cedex (France)
Description
The magnetic properties of the intermetallic stannide URhSn are addressed by use of scalar relativistic calculations within the local density approximation (LDA) and including spin-orbit coupling effects. An orbital moment with a larger magnitude and sign opposite to the spin-only one is found for uranium whereas rhodium atoms carry very small moments. The hybridization between the different l-states causing the chemical bonding is discussed. ((orig.))
