Designing discharge systems for once-through cooling

Description

An overview of the processes involved in the design of subsurface cooling-water outfalls at powerplants is provided. It is shown how the operation of an outfall can eliminate environmentally unacceptable temperature increases in the receiving water. The ways to estimate mixing and dilution, jet-based designs of multiport diffusers and some data on outfall hydraulics are indicated
