Comparative evaluation of 99Tc sup (m) and 123I for thyroid scintigraphy and uptake measurements

Description

Due to high radiation absorbed doses at scintiscanning of the thyroid when using iodine-131, this isotope has been more and more replaced by technetium-99m-pertechnetate. As there are some discrepancies not using an iodine isotope, tests have been performed with iodine-123. Comparative studies of the thyroid images were performed with technetium-99m-pertechnetate and iodine-123. Better uptake in the thyroid was found by using iodine-123. (K.K.)
