Experimental study of radon release and its mechanism
- 1. Chengdu Univ. of Technology (China)
Description
The authors observed the radon released from uranium minerals under different conditions statically and consecutively with high-sensitive α-measurement instrument and other kinds of devices and obtained significant results. The release of radon from uranium minerals is catheterized by intermittent features. The range and cycle of variety are affected by the category and granularity of minerals. Because of the variation of porosity inside uranium minerals, the radon and helium decayed by radium cannot flood out of mineral body until they accumulate in the mineral's interior and the gas pressure goes beyond the limit. According to this conclusion, the measurement method of accumulative radon should be adopted in practice
