Nucleus polarizability in electron quasi-elastic scattering

Creators

Description

Based on the many-body theory without using model approximations, made is an investigation of the multiple-particle effects in nuclei, leading to nonlocality and energy dependence of the real part of the mass operator. The influence of these effect on the cross sections of quasi-elastic electron scattering is studied. Deriving from these general fundamental conceptions of the structure of the energy dependence of the mass operator, it is shown that the appearance of the ''suppression factor'' in cross sections of (ee') reactions is caused by multiple-particle effects (polarizability of a nucleus) and is a necessary consequence of renormalization of the Green function. The asymptotic behaviour of the renormalization coefficient is investigated. The class of reactions, in which the investigation of the effect in question is possible experimentally, is analyzed
