Fabrication and optical characterization of electrochemically grown copper oxide nanotubes

Description

By using ion track membrane as template and an aqueous solution of CuSO4.5H2O, bundles of copper oxide nanotubes were grown into polycarbonate membranes of diameter of 200 nm and lengths upto tens of micrometers via potentiostatic electrodeposition technique. The length of nanotubes can be easily controlled by applied voltage and deposition time. Morphological characterization of these nanotubes was monitored using FE-SEM and the optical characterization was monitored using UV-Visible spectrophotometer. A UV-visible spectrum of copper oxide nanotubes revealsa band gap of 2.4 eV. (author)
