Experimental tests of unification models
Description
Several tests of unification models are described. SU(5), SO(10) and SU(16) are the models at the grand unification theory level and SU(4)CxSU(2)LxSU(2)R is at the partial unification theory level. The construction of these groups are briefly discussed. The tests selected for discussion are the existence of intermediate mass-scales spanning the gap between 102-1015GeV, observable V+A interactions mediated by WR's finiteness of the neutrino mass in the electron volt region, alternative proton-decay modes viz. p → e+π0, νπ+; p → e-π+π+; p → e-ννπ+π+ etc., neutron oscillations (n → n-bar) and neutrino oscillations.
