Revised estimates of the tritium breeding performances of CTR blankets

Some recent differential measurements of the 7Li(n,n'α)T cross-section have been used to revise the estimates of tritium breeding in a conceptual TOKAMAK reactor. It is found that the assumption that the total cross-section of 7Li remains constant leads to a more optimistic result than that obtained by other methods. A similar investigation of the Pb(n,2n) cross-section in an enriched lithium blanket has shown that the performance of the latter is less susceptible to uncertainties in the cross-sections. (author)
