Description

We have fabricated perovskite superlattices consisting of ferromagnetic metallic oxide Nd0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (NSMO) and superconducting YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO). We have investigated structural, transport and magnetic properties of a series of multilayers, in which the layer thickness of NSMO is fixed and that of YBCO varied from 2 to 6 unit cells. We find that the superconducting phase is suppressed for YBCO layer thickness lower than 3 unit cells in NSMO/YBCO multilayered structure. Magnetic moment versus external magnetic field hysteresis curves shows a coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity nearly in the scale of their characteristic lengths.
