Neutron diffraction study on the texture development during extrusion of magnesium alloy AZ31

Description

In this study, the crystallographic texture of hydrostatically extruded AZ31 alloy is investigated using neutron diffraction method. Along the whole extruded profile 9 samples were collected with a volume of 1 cm3 for cubic shaped and 1.5 cm in diameter for cylindrical shaped samples, including the non-deformed part. The main texture component is a <10.0> fibre parallel to the extrusion direction as a result of the uniaxial deformation and the recrystallization during extrusion
