Synthetic information-enhanced MR images

The proposed information-enhanced synthetic images extract statistically defined information, not pure T1, T2, and density parameters, from a large original image set into a smaller and less noisy one. The information-enhanced images are more perceptible and comparable from case to case. Advantages and disadvantages of individual methods are discussed. For example, deficiencies of eigenimages are demonstrated. The obtained synthetic images appear to be superior to the traditional presentation of MR image data, especially in the delineation of pathologic patterns (tumor vs edema vs normal tissue). Suggestions for future developments are formulated as well
