Description

Effect of strain and temperature on high temperature deformation properties of an alpha + beta titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V has been investigated in the temperature range 800 to 910 deg. C by using the method of cross head speed cycling. On the basis of flow stress strain rate-strain rate sensitivity data and microstructural studies of the undeformed and deformed regions of tensile test pieces, both strain introduced hardening and softening effects were observed during the course of deformation which could be associated with grain coarsening and refining respectively.
