Description
TRIAM-1M, world's first superconducting ferromagnetic tokamak, is equipped with a data processing system comprising data input equipment consisting of several tens of CAMAC (computer automated measurement and control) modules and an 8M-bite computer for control. Software for efficient operation by the system has been developed to allow data collection, analysis output and storage to be carried out within each discharge cycle of 3-5 minutes. Major features of the data processing system are outlined in the present report. The voltage applied to the plasma (one-turn loop voltage), the current in the various magnetic field coils required for plasma production and position control, and the intensity of the magnetic field produced by the plasma current are detected by a one-turn loop coil, Rogowskii coil and magnetic probe, respectively. These and other data such as measured by a μ-wave interferometer, Thomson scattering measuring equipment and natural particle energy analyzer are sent to the CAMAC modules. The modules perform data sampling, digital signal conversion and data transfer to the computer, which uses the data for plasma diagnosis and displays the results. (N.K.)
