The DOE program of international R ampersand D cooperation in nuclear safeguards
Description
The US Department of Energy (DOE) helps implement nonproliferation policy by providing technical leadership and support to a research and development (R ampersand D) program designed to improve nuclear material accountability and the physical protection of nuclear facilities and materials. An integral part of this program is the international agreement for cooperative R ampersand D, which improves international safeguards and assists the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These agreements promote technology development and evaluation, instrument exchanges, and the exchange of safeguards experts
