Formation of lobes in FR-I extragalactic radio sources. II. Head-tail radio galaxies

Description

It is argued that the tail radio galaxies (of head-tail type) found in clusters of galaxies should be classified as FR-I type. The turbulent jet model proposed earlier for double radio sources of the class FR-I (of 3C 31 type) is used to describe the tails of these radio galaxies. In this case the gas-dynamical problem is complicated by the need to take into account the accompanying flow of external gas. The results of numerical calculations show that under these conditions narrower jets are formed. This corresponds to the radio charts of some of the tail radio galaxies obtained with high angular resolution. It is noted that the prediction of the model most convenient for experimental verification is the increase in the density of the thermal plasma along the tail
