On the stability of a tin-phytate complex

Description
The stability of tin-phytate solution stored at room temperature has been studied. It was found that there is a pronounced increase in the rate of degradation of this complex, both temperature and phase change contributing to the enhanced rate of decomposition. The kidney uptake which is occasionally observed clinically with an aged tin-phytate complex labelled with sup(99m)Tc is probably due to an intermediate product which subsequently breaks down on further storage. Lyophilized tin-phytate complex 'kits' have a longer shelf life than the aqueous complex. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Stabilitaet einer Zinn-Phytat-Loesung, die bei Raumtemperatur aufbewahrt wurde, wurde geprueft. Man fand, dass es eine ausgepraegte Verstaerkung der Zersetzung des Komplexes gibt, sowohl von der Temperatur her als auch von der Veraenderung der Phase her. Die Nierenaufnahme, die gelegentlich klinisch beobachtet wird, wenn aeltere Zinn-Phytat-Komplexloesungen, die mit sup(99m)Tc markiert werden, Verwendung finden, ist vermutlich auf ein Zwischenprodukt zurueckzufuehren, das seinerseits wieder zerfaellt, wenn die Loesung laenger stehen bleibt. Lyophilisierte Zinn-Phytat-Komplex 'Kits' haben eine laengere Lebensdauer als der waessrige Komplex. (orig.)Additional details
