Radionuclide accumulations in natural-vegetation complexes of the Belarus

  • 1. Institut Ehksperimental'noj Botaniki AN Belarusi, Minsk (Belarus)

Description

Radioecological monitoring on radioactive contaminated Belarussian land is realized from 1986. The results obtained show that the natural-vegetation complexes in Belarus are the places of increased radiation hazard for man and animals. Recommendations for utilization of feed lands on territories with soil contamination greater than 2 Ci/km2, preparation of rules for population safe living on radioactive contaminated territories taking into account different quality of radioisotope compositions in fallouts (it is not necessary to consider only Cs-137, soil contamination with Sr-90, which is tenfold more toxic as compared with Cs-137, is high in the Gomel region), are given
