Diffusion of fast electrons after a monster sawtooth crash

Description
Monster sawteeth have been produced during Lower Hybrid Current Drive and Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating campaigns. In these experiments, the Lower Hybrid wave generates fast electrons in the plasma bulk with energies in excess of 100 keV. The fast electrons are observed to reach the limiters after the sawtooth crash well in advance of the heat pulse due to thermal electrons. Analysis of this process could give an insight into the nature of the turbulence responsible for anomalous transport in tokamaks. (author) 6 refs., 3 figs
