Families of exact solutions of gas dynamics equations in planar, cylindrical and spherical geometries with shocks

Description

Several families of exact and relatively simple solutions of the one space dimension gas dynamics equations with shocks are given. Most of these solutions are obtained by applying a boundary condition of the form: u1 (Ri,t) = 0 where u1 is the gas velocity behind the shock wave and Ri is the initial radius of any point where the shock is generated. Other families are obtained from a boundary condition of the following form u1( Ri,t) = f(Ri) g(t). In each case, the initial conditions of the gas are determined in order to provide the expected shock, and the complete description of the gas flow as well as the propagation law of the shock wave are given. Abstract (French)

On donne plusieurs familles de solutions exactes relativement simples des equations de la dynamique des gaz avec chocs, en geometries 1-D quelconques; la plupart sont obtenues a partir d'une condition a la limite u1 ( Ri,t) = 0 ou u1 designe la vitesse materielle qui existe derriere l'onde de choc et Ri est l'abscisse initiale d'un point quelconque ou se forme le choc. D'autres familles sont obtenues a partir d'une condition a la limite de la forme u1( Ri,t) = f(Ri) g(t). On determine dans chaque cas les conditions initiales du gaz compatibles avec une telle condition a la limite et on calcule completement l'ecoulement en aval et en amont du choc, ainsi que la trajectoire de l'onde de choc.
