Fourier deconvolution of scatter in chest imaging

Description
A deconvolution technique is being investigated to compensate for the effects due to scattered photons in radiographic chest images. This technique utilizes two-dimensional Fourier transforms to perform the deconvolution of an assumed scatter point spread response. This technique assumes a uniform point spread response for the scattered photons over the spatial extent of the chest image. The use of Fourier techniques allows spatial frequency spectrum analysis as well as straightforward implementation of frequency space filtering. Standard chest imaging equipment is used, and the technique could be applied to previously acquired film images
