Description
Aluminium phosphate, AlPO4, Mr=121.95, orthorhombic, Icmm (disordered Al, P), Icm2 (ordered Al, P), a=13.5333(8), b=18.4845(10), c=8.3703(4) A, V=2094 A3, Z=20, Dx=1.93 g cm-3, T ≅ 295 K, Rwp=0.031, RF2=0.109 (Icmm) and Rwp=0.027, RF2=0.058 (Icm2) for 1017 independent reflections. Sample calcined at 873 K and dehydrated at 573 K. Time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction data were taken on the GPPD diffractometer at the Argonne National Laboratory Intense Pulsed Neutron Source. The structure was refined by Rietveld profile analysis in the range d=0.86-3.91 A in two space groups: Icmm assuming no ordering of Al and P, and Icm2 assuming strict alternation of Al and P on tetrahedral nodes.
