Increased ductility zones in uranium-0.2% vanadium alloy fractured in tension under high pressure

Description

The fracture mechanism of various structures of the U-V 0.2% alloy is modified when the tension test is performed under high hydrostatic pressure. Zones where the metal shows a very large strain appear. The microfractographic appearance of these zones is described. A strain and fracture model is proposed

Le mecanisme de rupture de differents etats structuraux de l'alliage U-V 0,2% est modifie par l'application d'une pression hydrostatique lors de l'essai de traction. Il apparait en particulier des zones dans lesquelles le metal presente un allongement tres important. L'aspect fractographique de ces zones est decrit. Un modele de deformation et de rupture est propose
