Cold Nuclear fusion

Description

Muon-catalyzed fusion can take place rapidly in a simple chamber containing deuterium and tritium. Negative muons are introduced into the chamber and collide with the deuterium and tritium to form muonic atoms. The muonic atoms then fuse, ejecting the muons which can then catalyze other fusion reactions. The authors describe this process and discuss current theoretical and experimental questions associated with it. The article concludes with an overview of schemes to generate useful amounts of power by the process
