Description

The cooling water inlet to the reactor vessel is provided by two pipes emptying into the water jacket between the inner reactor vessel wall and the core bearing cylinder. Shaped elements are mounted to the underside of the sealing ring of the bearing cylinder. A lattice made from pins is placed under the elements, downstream of the cooling water. The principle described reduces the intensity of both velocity and pressure fluctuations of the coolant which may be the cause of serious fuel element failures. (J.B.)
