Description

A J/Ψ meson is mainly formed by gluon fusion in 200 GeV pp collisions. In reactions with nuclei the gluons (g) are scattered by nucleons (N) before fusing to J/Ψ, which then shows an additional transverse momentum pT. Fitting the value of the parameter σgNgN to describe the gluon multiple scattering effect in proton-nucleus data, the pT distribution of J/Ψ production in 200 GeV/A nucleus-nucleus collisions can be reproduced. The pT distribution has its origin in soft gluon radiation. (author). 3 figs., 18 refs
