Wall thickness measurements of pipes in heat exchangers using ultrasonic waves

Description
Heat exchangers and reactors used in the chemical industry for heat exchange and conversion are exposed to the influence of corrosion and wear. These defect parts must be identified during operation in order to prevent damage occurring to the plant and to restrict break-down times. By means of manual ultrasonic wall thickness measurement worn parts in piping both on the inner and outer sides can be reliably detected in the assembled state. (orig.)

Waermeaustauscher und Reaktoren in der chemischen Industrie zum Waermeaustausch und zur Stoffumwandlung unterliegen den Einfluessen von Korrosion und Verschleiss. Diese Schadstellen muessen waehrend der betrieblichen Anwendung sicher erkannt werden, um Schaeden an der Anlage und Ausfallzeiten zu verhindern. Mit dem manuellen Ultraschall-Wanddickenmessverfahren lassen sich Abzehrungen an Rohren sowohl an der Innen- als auch an der Aussenseite zuverlaessig im eingebauten Zustand erkennen.
