Utilization of the high current capability of the Demokritos tandem
- 1. Democritos Nuclear Research Center, Athens (Greece). Tandem Accelerator Lab.
Description
The T11/25 HVEC Tandem accelerator at Demokritos has been designed as a high current accelerator. However in order to operate at currents in excess of 30 μA of protons or deuterons and nearly at the top of its voltage rating (5.5. MV) certain modifications and precautions were needed. The high currents are utilized for radioisotope production and for the production of monochromatic neutrons in the range of 5-25 MeV. (orig.)
