Comparative analysis of Dy atom excitation under ion- and electron-atom collisions and sputtering

Description

Results of experimental study of Dy atom optical spectra by ion- and electron beam collisions in gas phase and by sputtering are compared. All collision processes were observed in a vacuum chamber with uniform system of analysis and registration of optical radiation. Studies are carried out for Ho+→Dy, e→Dy systems in a gas phase with application of methodology of intersecting atom and electron beams under conditions close to single-stage collisions, and Dy+→Dy system (solid body target). Dysprosium samples were bombarded by Dy+ ions perpendicular to surface. Ion energy equaled 40 keV
