Quality assurance and quality control, as seen by the supervising authorities. What regulatory means are there
Description
The terms 'quality assurance' and 'quality control' are explained in accordance with the WHO definitions, and the tasks to be performed by the various occupational groups concerned with quality assurance and quality control in nuclear medicine are described (doctors, radiochemists, pharmacists, medical physicists, medical engineers and assistants). Using from this survey of tasks and activities various selected examples, the author explains the supervising authority's means of influencing QA and QC in this field. The examples include official limits of radionuclide release, contamination monitoring activities, radiological protection schemes and standards, and a variety of equipment for radioactivity measurement. The legal provisions forming the basis of governmental supervision primarily are given in the Medical Preparations Act and in sections 28, 42, and 43 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance. (orig.)

(orig.)Additional details
