Description

This Ordinance, which entered into force on 1 January 1988, provides for the merger of the Federal Institute for Reactor Research (IFR) and the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research (ISN), both located on the opposite banks of the Aar river in the Argau canton, into a new research establishment, the Paul-Scherrer Institute. While the IFR and the ISN worked on fundamental research and applied research covering industrial applications respectively, the Paul-Scherrer Institute will be more of a multidisciplinary establishment for natural sciences and engineering. The Ordinance sets the statute, tasks, etc. of the Institute

Abstract (French)

La presente Ordonnance, qui est entree en vigueur le 1er janvier 1988 decide la fusion de l'Institut federal de recherches en matiere de reacteurs (IFR) et de l'Institut suisse de recherches nucleaires (ISN) tous deux situes sur des berges opposees de l'Aar, dans le canton d'Argovie en un nouvel etablissement de recherches, l'Institut Paul-Scherrer. Alors que l'ISN et l'IFR se consacraient respectivement a la recherche fondamentale d'une part et a la recherche appliquee jusqu'aux applications industrielles d'autre part, l'Institut Paul-Scherrer (IPS) sera plus largement un etablissement de recherches multidisciplinaires pour les sciences naturelles et l'ingenierie. L'Ordonnance regle le statut, les taches etc. de l'Institut
