Nonlinear behavior of ion beam modes in a beam-plasma system
- 1. Utsunomiya Univ. Utsunomiya, Tochigi (Japan). Dept. of Electric and Electronic Engineering
Description
Nonlinear modulation of the ''slow'' ion beam modes in a beam-plasma system is experimentally shown to occur above a threshold value of wave amplitude and to progress during propagation. The threshold is found to change depending on the wave frequency and on the plasma density. Another information on the nonlinear modulation is obtained from analysis of frequency spectra. Finally, the nonlinear modulation of the wave is tentatively interpreted to result from the parametric process. (author)
