Enhancement of NIRR-1 Utilization and Quality Control through Participation in IAEA Interlaboratory Comparison and Proficiency Test

  • 1. Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (Nigeria)

Description

Enhanced reactor utilization is achieved by increasing NAA technique. QA & QC limits the commercial application of this technique. The IAEA requested laboratories like CERT to partake in proficiency test organized by WEPAL. Forty-one participants attended from twenty-nine member states. The results indicate improved performance from most participants. This shows the success of corrective actions taken. Nigeria's performance was rated one of the best. This paper highlights the results and lessons learned from 2010 to 2013. The paper also pointed out immediate and long term follow-up actions needed in Nigeria to achieve quality and enhanced utilization of NIRR-1. (author)
