Unity of relativistic corrections and meson exchange currents
Description
Measurements of electron-deuteron scattering at high momentum transfer have stimulated considerable interest in the proper way to calculate meson exchange currents and relativistic corrections. In a recent short review given at the Zurich Conference, the relationship between various approaches to this problem and the interpretation of some correction terms was not clear. Today, all remaining ambiguities seem to be resolved, and in this short note I will briefly describe how exactly the same correction terms can be obtained from two very different approaches. I will limit myself to a comparison of the pion contribution to the deuteron charge form factor only. (orig./WL)
Abstract (German)
Messungen der Elektron-Deuteron-Streuung bei hohem Impulsuebertrag haben grosses Interesse am richtigen Weg der Berechnung von Mesonenaustauschstroemen und relativistischen Korrekturen geweckt. In einem Interview, das anlaesslich der Zuericher Konferenz gegeben wurde, war die Beziehung zwichen verschiedenen Loesungswegen fuer dieses Problem und der Interpretation einiger Korrekturterms noch nicht klar. Heute scheinen alle Unklarheiten beseitigt zu sein, und die Arbeit beschreibt, wie derselbe Korrekturterm mit zwei ganz verschiedenen Verfahren bestimmt werden kann. Der Autor beschraenkt sich auf einen Vergleich des Pionenbeitrags zum Formfaktor der Deuteronladung. (orig./WL)Additional details
