Description
The importance of the separation of hydrogen isotopes in designing and operating nuclear power reactors of CANDU type as well as for the detritiation of the moderator and heat carriers and high purity tritium production is underlined. Two types of hydrophobic catalysts were proved to have superior catalytic activity in the reaction of isotopic exchange between hydrogen and water. Arguments are presented in favor of utilisation of Pt / C / PTFE catalyst in the isotopic exchange columns of a heavy water detritiation plant
