Neutron spin echo optics

Description

Neutron spin rotation by the transmission at the Bragg condition for magnetic multilayers was detected by the neutron spin interferometry using a transverse neutron spin echo (NSE) instrument. The inserted magnetic membrane consisted of 15 layers of permalloy evaporated on a silicon base. The transmission probability of polarized neutrons for the magnetic multilayers was measured by changing the incident angle of neutrons. Observed transmission probability agreed with simulated values within the experimental error. The neutron spin rotation was detected as a function of the incident angle by inserting the magnetic multilayers into the flight path of neutrons in the NSE interference meter. (H. Baba)
