Description
A study has been done of the induced charge density, wake potential, and stopping power of swift unit charges in an electron gas. An extended Thomas-Fermi theory is applied to the internal kinetic energy of the Fermi fluid. The von Weizsaecker parameter is constrained by the exact Coulomb enhancement of the electron density at the projectile site. Illustrative results for protons and antiprotons are presented
