Description
This paper assesses the role of Gd-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging in the detection and characterization of renal lesions. Three T1-weighted sequences were compared: spin-echo, fat saturation and Gd-DTPA-enhanced fat saturation sequences. MR findings were compared with CT and histologic findings in all patients. High-resolution contrast-enhanced CT was performed in 30 patients (mean age, 61 years). MR imaging was performed on a 1.5-T magnet. Conventional SE images and images with fat saturation were obtained before and after Gd-DTPA enhancement. CT and MR image were analyzed for lesion detection, size, characterization (crystic or solid), and percentage of contrast enhancement
