The standard molar enthalpy of formation of BaTe2O5

  • 1. Applied Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

The molar enthalpies of solution of BaTe2O5, TeO2 and BaCO3 in 8 mol dm-3 HCl(aq) have been measured using an isoperibol type calorimeter. From these results and other auxiliary data, the standard molar enthalpy of formation ΔfHmo(298.15 K) of BaTe2O5(s) has been calculated to be -1388.1 ± 14.3 kJ. mol-1. This is the first measurement of enthalpy of formation of BaTe2O5 as there are no reported values in literature. (author)
