Estimation of the mean energy of cosmic ray muons in multilayer detectors
- 1. Georgian Acad of Sci., Tbilisi (Georgia). Inst. of Phys.
Description
A technique to determine the mean energy of energetic muons in multilayer detectors is developed. The mean energy is determined from the average value m of the small bursts, i.e. the average number of electrons and positrons generated in the detector by muons in the three basic processes: creation of e+e- pairs, δ-electrons, and bremsstrahlung. The accuracy of the method is discussed. (orig.)
