Parameters of the 14C content determination in the ultra-low background spectrometer Quantulus for different scintillators and vials

Description
Liquid scintillation counting (LSC) of the plutonium β-emitters can be performed only after their perfect separation from other components of the sample, because many compounds may produce significant scintillation quenching. Also sample/scintillating cocktail volume ratio, scintillator composition and type of the vial are of great importance. Authors present and discuss results of own measurements of the 14C-labelled n-pentanol standard and scintillation quenching by CCl4 by different cocktails in several systems
