Emission balances of the German ESIs as reflected by European-wide regulations

The year 1993 gives reason for a renewed presentation of the SO2-, NOx-and dust emissions from the ESI power stations. On the one hand the Large Combustion Plant Ordinance in West Germany demanded the closure of non-retrofitted power stations at the latest prior to 1 April 1993; this once more led to the expectational regulations to which Germany committed itself during the second half of the eighties often provide 1993 as the year when a partial target in fulfilling reductions in emissions had to be realised.
