[US Geological Survey research in radioactive waste disposal, fiscal year 1980:] Hydrology
Description
The objective is to determine the present and past hydrologic regimes of the NTS area in order to predict the potential for ground-water transport of radioactive waste to the accessible environment. Test drilling is being conducted to characterize in detail the hydrologic regimes of candidate areas for a waste repository. Results will provide information on potential ground-water flow pathways, bulk hydrogeologic properties of potential host rocks and surrounding rock units, and groundwater chemistry and age.
