Description
We show that a variational calculation of the ground-state energy of SU(N) Hamiltonian lattice gauge theories concurrently gives an estimate of the 0/sup ++/ glueball mass. Monte Carlo calculations in three spatial dimension for N = 3, 4, 5, and 6 indicate that the resulting glueball mass begins to scale for N≥5
