Pulse radiolysis of ethanol solutions of 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride

Description

We previously studied the radiation-chemical transformation of 2,3,5-triphyenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) in isopropyl alcohol. The isopropanol was chosen as the solvent because its radiolysis produced highly reductive alkylhydroxy radicals. This paper attempts to find out how the type of alcohol affects the radiolytic conversion of TTC by studying the mechanism of the latter's reduction in ethanol by microsecond pulse radiolysis with optical recordation of short-lived particles
