Description

It is pointed out that hot, ionized gas seems a better possibility than galaxies and neutral gas for binding the universe depending on the clumping factor, which is unknown. Both in clusters and outside of them these would have to be tremendous energy sources like quasar explosions to heat the gas to the very high temperature required by the x-ray observations. (U.S.)
