Digital chrono analyzer: a new option to measurement of delayed time and average life of nuclear excited states
Description
In this paper, the author describes a new electronic system for measurement of time correlation of events physical phenomena in the range of 10-8 a 105 sec. This system, which was designed and built by the author in our laboratory, is based in a sequential time scale which is controlled by a precision quartz oscillator; the zero time of observation is set by means of a JK Flip-Flop, which is operated by a negative transition of pulse in coincidence with the pulse from a detector which marks the zero time of the event (precedent pulse). This electronic system (named Digital Chronoanalizer) was used in the measurement of the 60 KeV excited state of Np237. The high precision obtained in the measurements is comparable to the best results, found in the international literature where different techniques of measurements were used (T1/2= 68,8 ± 0,3) n seg.
