Quantum chromodynamics for a large number of colors as an amorphous system

Description

The notion, that multicolor quantum chromodynamics reproduces a picture of strong interactions, requires adequate methods to describe the behaviour of the so-called matrix models (gluodynamics in particular) in the limit of a large number of colors (planar approximation). A similarity between NxN matrix models of quantum field theory in the limit N → infinity and models of disordered spin systems in statistical physics is pointed out. A possibiliy of existence in the limit of large N for matrix model phi sub(D)sup(4) and gluodynamics of a new phase, similar to spin glass phase in disordered spin systems, is underlined
