Copper, gold and radioactive elements in the taseev rock series of the Yenisei ridge

Description

The paper describes the lithological structure and geological features of deposits of the Taseev series of the upper Riphean-Yudom discovered by drilling in the Modygaj syncline. Copper mineralization was found in the central part of the Chistyakov formation. The authors draw conclusions concerning the relationship of the chalcophile elements to the grey-coloured arenaceous-aleurolite-argillaceous bands and, consequently, to the sedimentation medium. The distribution of gold is evidence of its gravitation towards the red-coloured quartz sandstone and of redeposition together with fragments of the Riphean slates. The high concentrations of uranium coincide with bands enriched in organic matter, the thorium is associated with layers of red-coloured clastic rock containing a large amount of heavy-fraction minerals. Conclusions are drawn concerning the existence throughout the Taseev period of two regions of removal - an eastern, intraplatform area and a western area bordering on the site of the Riphean miogeosyncline
